An extensive collection in the fields of mental health and psychiatry
The Charles Cahn Library houses over 15,000 books and journals in the fields of psychiatry and mental health services. It has received in donation, over the years, the personal book collections of four psychiatrists associated with the Douglas Institute: Gaston Harnois, Henry Murphy, Vasavan Nair and Ramzy Yassa.
Named after the distinguished Douglas psychiatrist,Charles Cahn, MD, the library maintains journal subscriptions to over 60 printed periodicals, both scientific and medical. It is also a member of the McGill Health Sciences Libraries Consortium. This affiliation gives the Douglas user access to a huge collection of books and periodicals, in integral electronic version, from the Douglas or from home via a VPN number.
