Sixty-seven researchers and clinicians work at the Douglas Institute Research Centre, assisted by nearly two hundred trainees from twenty different countries. Together, they work to expand the knowledge base related to the causes of mental illness, be it of genetic, environmental, cultural or social origin. Their research has already helped to improve diagnostic tools and treatments and identify preventive measures. Their activities extend beyond Canada’s borders, with partnerships all over the world. Four of our researchers are among the most highly cited neuroscientists in the world: Bruno Giros, PhD, Michael Meaney, PhD, Judes Poirier, PhD and Rémi Quirion, PhD.
