Norbert Schmitz, PhD, joined the Douglas Institute Research Centre in 2004. His research interests are in the areas of biostatistics, epidemiology and psychometrics, and he has many years of experience in psychiatric research, including psychiatric epidemiology and clinical trials. He has also been a reviewer for several scientific journals.
Norbert Schmitz has published research in a number of areas, including outcome assessment, psychometric screening, measurement methodology, quality of life research, interaction of physical and mental illness, and the evaluation of risk factors. Recent work by Norbert Schmitz and his colleagues has focused on the interaction of risk factors, with an emphasis on studies of mental disorders. This includes developing and applying new methodology for the design and analysis of psychiatric studies, as well as participating in major research projects.
