The primary focus of the undergraduate program is to teach and help the students apply core knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a medical professional. The goal of the program is to equip the student to meet the most stringent standards of medical practice and professionalism, in order to ensure career-long excellence in whole-person care.

Each year, the Douglas Institute welcomes approximately 40 trainees through its internship program. Most of them come from McGill University but some come from other universities. All trainees receive cutting-edge education and intensive supervision.

Medical students can count on first-class clinicians, teachers and researchers with diverse areas of interest. The Douglas Institute provides a unique setting where students can come in contact with such subspecialties as:

  • Child Psychiatry
  • Geriatric Psychiatry
  • Mood, Anxiety and Impulsivity Disorders
  • Psychotic Disorders
  • Intellectual Handicap with Psychiatric Comorbidity
  • Eating Disorders
  • Recovery
  • Research in psychiatry
  • Intensive Care
