Gérard Lebel is a baccalaureate nurse and liaison for the Evaluation-Liaison Module (MEL), a service that responds to requests for psychiatric consultations from individuals referred by a physician.

Gérard Lebel has a master’s degree in clinical psychology, as well as a Master of Science in Administration and Organisation Management.

Since 1985, he has worked as a nurse in various medical fields, such as emergency. Following his studies in psychology, he entered into private practise as a clinical psychologist.

In 1999, Gérard Lebel joined the staff at the Douglas Institute as a nurse and assistant head nurse in the emergency department, where he practiced individual and group therapy, trained the nursing staff and became involved in the effort to improve the quality of emergency services.

Due to his continued fervent interest in improving the quality of services, plus a penchant for team and organizational management, today he is president of the Council of Nurses. He is also on the board of the CII within the Ordre des infirmiers et infirmières du Québec (OIIQ). Moreover, he is a member of the Association québécoise des infirmiers et infirmières en santé mentale (AQIISM) and the Secrétariat international des infirmiers et infirmières de l’espace francophone (SIDIIEF).
