The advisory to boil water for one minute prior to consumption will be maintained for the next 48 hours for the entire territory of the Island of Montreal that is affected, which includes Verdun.

The Purchasing Department will continue to distribute bottled water in the units, with priority given to patients.

To help manage this situation, employees are asked to bring in their own bottled water for personal consumption, if possible.

The City of Montreal indicates that water must be boiled for one minute, or bottled water should be used for the following purposes, until new directives are given:

  • Drinking or preparing drinks
  • Washing and preparing raw foods (fruits, vegetables, etc.).
  • Preparing foods that do not require prolonged cooking
  • Making ice
  • Brushing teeth and rinsing the mouth
  • Discard ice, drinks or foods prepared with unboiled water, after the date of the advisory.

You can use unboiled tap for the following activities:

  • Washing dishes with hot water and letting them dry fully.
  • Washing clothing.
  • Taking a shower or bath

Further messages will follow as we get new information.
