This is an excerpt from a press release produced by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec

The Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de Montréal is pleased to announce that the three candidate institutions it recommended to the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux to take part in the second phase of the Lean Healthcare Six Sigma implementation across its network have been approved. The Agence congratulates the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, CSSS de Dorval-Lachine-LaSalle and Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal on this achievement.

The Lean Healthcare Six Sigma approach targets the continuous improvement of care and service delivery in terms of access, quality and efficiency. The approach focuses on the participation of all stakeholders (personnel, managers, doctors, etc.) and on decision-making as close to the action as possible.

“We are proud of the confidence being shown in the Douglas Institute, and we are ready for the challenge ahead! We congratulate the other two Montreal institutions whose projects were also approved; together, we will work to improve the care trajectory for our patients and users. This recognition, in being directed for the first time to a mental health institution, demonstrates a determination to promote equity and social inclusion for people dealing with mental health problems. On behalf of the Douglas Institute and its patients, I thank the Agence de Montréal for its steadfast support,” stated Lynne McVey, Executive Director of the Douglas Mental Health University Institute.

Lynne McVey wants to congratulate each and everyone who was involved in obtaining the Ministère's approval for the Douglas LEAN project.
