On tuesday night, march 24th, the homeless street count I COUNT MTL 2015 sent out 800 volunteers accompanied by team leaders through the streets of Montreal to meet and count homeless people.

Mandated by the City of Montreal, the Douglas Mental Health University Institute’s Research Centre, in partnership with Convercité and many of the shelters and organisations involved in homelessness, the YMCAs of Quebec have recruted 1000 volunteers including team leaders to make this community effort a success.

New York, Paris and Brussels and many Canadian cities, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary to name but a few, have conducted this type of survey. This will mark the first such survey for the city of Montreal the objective of which is to help its most vulnerable citizens exit homelessness.
