We are on the threshold of major changes in the organization of health and social services. The Act to modify the organization and governance of the Health and Social Services Network, in particular by abolishing regional agencies is effective as of April 1st, and a new organization will be put in place on the West Island of Montreal. Note however, that this reorganization will not have any effect on the services offered to the population.

Under the new law, the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal will be composed of the following
institutions:

  • The West Island Health and Social Services Centre
  • The Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Dorval-Lachine-LaSalle
  • The West Montreal Readaptation Centre
  • The Batshaw Youth and Family Centre
  • The Douglas Mental Health University Institute
  • The Grace Dart Extended Care Centre
  • St. Mary’s Hospital

Mr. Benoit Morin is the President and CEO of the new CIUSSS and the head Office will be located in Pointe-Claire.

This reform aims to create an improved network for the well-being of the population and for our various clienteles. The integration of different social and healthcare missions within the same institution facilitates the pathway for care and services offered to our users. Mr. Morin points out that: “There will be continuity of care and services as well as improvements. Of course, a transition period is needed to set up the new organization. Ultimately, the population will be better served”.

Should you have any questions concerning services on the West Island of Montreal, as of April 1st, please call 514-630-2123.
