Recovery is the ultimate goal of the new 2006-2010 strategic plan of the Douglas Hospital, titled “Recovery: From Neighbourhood to Neuron”. If ever-increasing numbers of people are to reach and maintain recovery, the Douglas must integrate clinical, teaching and research activities as never before—in its units, labs and clinics, and through education and increased collaboration with partners. It must also intensify its fight against stigma through new discoveries, knowledge exchange and public education projects. All this must be done while adhering to the Mental Health Action Plan and playing a vital role within McGill RUIS.

The new strategic plan of the Hospital addresses questions such as “How can the Douglas best use its resources?”, “What part will it play in response to the Mental Health Action Plan and within McGill RUIS?”, “How can the Hospital improve the quality of life of the people it serves?”, and “How can it create a stimulating working environment in the midst of such change?”

The next four years will be a period of great transition.
