Stress, panic, apathy, burnout and depression—is this the price of success? How can we reach a healthy balance between attainable achievement and our overwhelming expectations? This is the topic of the Douglas’ next Frames of Mind documentary, Quand le cadre ne cadre plus. The film, directed by Martine Forand, documents the experience of three individuals who feel they are not meeting society’s expectations and, consequently, fall into burnout and depression. Their struggle to overcome this problem and the challenges of returning to work are also portrayed. The evening will be co-hosted by Douglas professional chief of psychology Camillo Zacchia, PhD, and the director of the documentary.

“Burnout is a debilitating syndrome that can mean different things to different people,” says Zacchia. This film illustrates how symptoms vary from frustration and cynicism to hopelessness, and may evolve to depression. Treatment and therapy for depressed patients may benefit people suffering from burnout. Improved awareness of the seriousness of this syndrome and its many symptoms is important for affected individuals, so they can seek help.”
