Exhibit Hall, and the entrance of the Library, before the big opening

« Extraordinary exhibit, original, funny… »
« I was overwhelmed by your artistic and surrealistic look on a life so hard at times »
« It’s magical, and, I don’t know why, it makes you feel good! »

These are some of the comments that were found in the guest book, which was actually filled with comments, at Verdun Cultural Centre, where the second phase of the Phoenix art exhibit took place, in the heart of our community. Presented in a highly professional setting,

the artwork of these people who are quite affected, with a double diagnosis of being mentally challenged with mental health issues, touched a great number of visitors. There were also very enthusiastic reactions from the coordinator of the event, Mrs. Stéphanie Francescutti, and from all of the library staff. Not only did they appreciate very much the exhibit themselves, but they kept receiving praise from their clients, obviously charmed by the art show.

The artists’ pride, which was one of the project’s main goal, was evident at the exhibit’s opening, attended by many family members as well as approximately thirty people from all spheres of the Douglas. These people demonstrated their interest and support in this project of great value in regards to the clients’ participation in their community, and to the image that they project.

The exhibit will now go back on the walls of Douglas Hall Foyer for different events throughout the Fall. Thanks to everyone who encouraged us and and expressed their appreciation.
