The fourth edition of the Salon de la santé mentale du Sud-Ouest Verdun was highly successful. More than 600 visitors were welcomed to the event at the Centre Champlain, where they were provided with a wide array of information about the mental health services offered to residents of the Sud-Ouest Verdun area.

Visitors were able to meet and speak with representatives from 49 community organizations brought together under one roof for the occasion. Discussions held at the various kiosks covered the entire spectrum of assistance, counselling and guidance services for people suffering from mental health problems and for their families. Also included in the resources presented were access to housing, user rights, and help centres for eating disorders and addictions, to name just a few.

This year, five conferences were held in conjunction with the Salon and touched on such subjects as early detection of psychotic episodes, management of anxiety disorders, understanding compulsive hoarding, stress reduction through mindfulness meditation, and the demystification of addiction problems.

Douglas Institute well represented

The Douglas Institute was well represented throughout the event, with attendance by the teams from the Wellington Centre and our colourful greenhouses . Also on hand were team members from the Eating Disorders and PEPP-Montréal programs. Conferences led by PEPP-Montréal professionals and Camillo Zacchia attracted a total of over 300 people.

The organizing committee thanks all participants, exhibitors and visitors and looks forward to seeing you next year at the 5th edition.
