A recent assessment of Douglas Research Centre by the Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec (FRSQ) has confirmed its standing as a top-calibre facility. Administrative Director Jocelyne Lahoud explains, “Last February, a team of FRSQ evaluators rigorously assessed our entire research program—as they do every four years. We just received word that the Research Centre earned an “Excellent” rating. The Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Research Theme received special mention, earning an “Outstanding” rating.”

FRSQ evaluators were especially impressed with the:

  • Excellent relationship between the Research Centre and the Hospital;
  • “Good fit” between the 2006-2010 Strategic Plan and the Research Centre’s drive for excellence;
  • Affiliation with the Montreal World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Mental Health;
  • Outstanding scientific performance;
  • Effective mentoring of young researchers by experienced researchers;
  • Healthy growth, with the new Research Centre facilities helping to attract researchers with state-of-the-art expertise and know-how in complementary technologies;
  • Excellent training milieu;
  • Participative management approach;
  • Strong support from the McGill University and the Douglas Mental Health University Institute Foundation.

Douglas Scientific Director Rémi Quirion, PhD, congratulates all staff, researchers and students on their excellent work.
