Held for the first time November 15th 1986, National Philanthropy Day recognizes the extraordinary contribution of philanthropists, donors, volunteers, and all those who are active in philanthropy in our daily lives, our city, our country, and our world.

Regardless of how you demonstrate your philanthropist soul, through a donation or volunteering, the power of your generosity is the motor that drives social change. It is your heart, your desire to help, your empathy, your goodness and your concern for others that improve the quality of life of millions of people and thereby allow out society to progress.

“What ever is the motive as long as the result is good?” –A.S. Neill (translation)

In honour of this special day, the Douglas Institute Foundation wishes to encourage everyone to become involved in a charitable cause. “Philanthropy is good for the spirit. Everyone should join in”, says Jane Lalonde, President of the Foundation. “And today, we wish to warmly thank all of our donors and volunteers for their devoted support for our mission and for the well-being of thousands of people who suffer from mental illness.”

Give. More than a generation will remember.
