Animated short films produced by the kids from Project Ice Storm
Project Ice Storm has been ongoing since 1998 following the Quebec ice storm. Nearly 150 families in which the mother was pregnant during the storm were recruited to participate in the project. The goal is to investigate the effects of prenatal maternal stress on a broad range of developmental outcomes in the offspring, including cognitive, behavioral, motor, and physical.
In-depth evaluations of the children’s abilities were conducted at 2, 5, 8, 11, and 13 years of age. To thank them for their diligent participation of almost 14 years, we offered them the chance to participate in animation workshops given by National Film Board of Canada. This workshop resulted in the production of these two short films.
