The Douglas Institute presents its eighth “Frames of Mind” film event - May 6 and 7, 2011

The Douglas Mental Health University Institute will be presenting its eighth “Frames of Mind” mental health film and discussion series on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7. Held during Mental Health Week, this popular event follows its usual format of showing a movie and discussing it afterwards with clinical experts from the Douglas Institute. The sessions will take place in the Douglas Room and admission is free.Des films pour tous âges

“This movie is about the touching friendship that develops between a journalist and a brilliant street musician, and how their unusual bond affects both in different ways,” explains Thomas Holmes, a social worker who helps young people living with a psychotic disorder. He will take part in the discussion after the screening.

"The young heroine in this movie, all of 12 years old, embarks on an adventure that turns out to be a quest for her identity—something that every child experiences and which adults help guide them through," notes Colette Boucher, a psychologist working with children and pre-adolescents. She will join in the discussion after the film.

"I think the discussion following this movie will be a chance for the audience to actively share their knowledge and experiences with one another. I’m looking forward to hearing how they interpret certain scenes in the film,” says Marie-Josée Ouellet, a psychologist working with adolescents.
