The Douglas Mental Health University Institute Foundation, in collaboration with Ogilvy Montréal, is launching a video campaign that can be personalized and shared on social media in order to raise awareness about mental illness and encourage donations.

In a 30 second video, a young woman takes on the voice of mental illness, ruining lives with shame and in silence. At the end of the video, the user can choose from twenty statistics, which they can join to their name in order to share the video with friends on social media or by e-mail.

One in ten people in Canada presently suffer from mental illness. However, the majority of them will not seek help because of a lack of information or for fear of being judged. By encouraging people to get involved, this campaign wants to help break the wall of silence that surrounds mental illness.

This campaign and the sharing tool were generously conceived and made by Ogilvy Montréal. The video is viewable on the website of the Douglas Institute and promoted via clickable banners on websites and social media.

How can I help break down the stigma surrounding mental illness?

  1. Watch the video on the Douglas website: www.douglas.qc.ca/stopmentalillness
  2. Enter your name and choose the statistic that you find most relevant
  3. Share a personalized version of the video by e-mail, Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest

The Douglas Institute and Foundation are grateful to Ogilvy Montréal for their exceptional partnership. Thank you for investing in healthy minds.
