The 14th Annual Congress of the International Psychogeriatric Association (IPA) will open in Montreal on Sunday, August 30 with a lecture for the general public. Conference Co-Chair Serge Gauthier, MD, Director of the Alzheimer Disease Research Unit of the McGill Centre for Studies in Aging at the Douglas Institute, will give an opening lecture on “Improved mental health for older people: A path to prevention.”

The IPA Conference will be held from September 1 to 5 and will address the prevention of age-related cognitive, mood and behaviour changes. Panelists and invited speakers from all disciplines will take a look at societies and cultures around the world. Both clinicians and researchers will come to Montreal to share their work to better understand and explain the mental health of older people.
