Within the scope of the convention of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec held from October 28 to 30, prizes were awarded to engaged and inspiring professionals. Jean-Bernard Trudeau, MD, Director of Professional and Hospital Services at the Douglas, received the Health and Wellness Prize.

Exploring the theme "Psychologist: an essential expertise", the convention is the first since the adoption of Bill 21, and underscores the recognition the bill will confer to psychologists. As such, activities such as mental illness assessments and psychotherapy will soon be reserved to psychologists and other qualified professionals.

As a reminder, from 2004 to 2006, Jean-Bernard Trudeau chaired the Experts Committee that wrote the report "Partageons nos compétences" on modernizing professional practices in mental health and human relations, which led to the adoption of Bill 21 in June 2009.
