Frames of Mind 2009 - Special screening (in French)
Again this year, Frames of Mind attracted a crowd looking to learn more about the different aspects of mental illness. The screening of the film Polytechnique was particularly appreciated, as it was followed by a discussion with actress and associate producer Karine Vanasse, actor Sébastien Huberdeau, Douglas Institute researcher Alain Brunet, PhD, and Pascale Brillon, PhD, from the Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur.

In his opening remarks, André Delorme, director of mental health for the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, talked about the extent to which this type of event, which involves clinicians, can help rectify misconceptions that people have of mental illness while providing them with an opportunity to talk with the film's actors.

This year, Frames of Mind was showing:

  • Polytechnique by Denis Villeneuve.
  • Maman est chez le coiffeur by Léa Pool, with Jean-François Bélair, M.D., and Isabelle Hébert, writer.
  • C'est pas moi je le jure! by Philippe Falardeau, screened at the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois.
  • Le diable au corps from Johanne Prégent, presented as part of the ONF Ciné-débat.
