Public outreach activities of the Mental Health and Society Research Group

The Douglas – Bell Canada Brain Bank has almost 3000 human brain specimens. Established in 1980, it is the oldest brain bank in Canada, and one of the two largest reserves of autopsied brains in the country.

The research group directed by Rob Whitley studies the environmental factors that shape the onset and remission of mental illness.

The Intensive Case Management (ICM) Program is a means of organizing the work to provide integrated psychiatric treatment and recovery services to people with severe mental illnesses.

The Wellington Centre is a psychosocial rehabilitation and community support centre (SPECTRUM) aimed at demystifying mental illness and educate those with severe mental health disorders.

The Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Specialized Housing Program helps adults of any age with a severe mental disorder return to and stay in the community.

Investigators at the Centre conduct multidisciplinary research on human circadian rhythms (daily rhythmic events) and sleep.
