He receives the Heinz Lehmann 2010 Award from the Douglas Institute Foundation. The Heinz Lehmann Award is designed to recognize outstanding contributions in the field of research in neuropsychopharmacology in Canada.

2009

Scientist of the year : Michael Meaney O.C., PhD, C.Q., FRSC
The team from the radio show Les années lumière awarded the title of Radio-Canada Scientist of the Year 2009 to Michael Meaney and Gustavo Turecki for their discovery of the epigenetic effects of child abuse on the human brain.

He is recognized by the Institute for Scientific Information as a "Most Highly Cited Scientist" in the area of neuroscience.

He is honoured as the Presidential Scholar by the University of California at San Francisco.

Exemplary Psychiatrist Award : Ashok Malla MD, FRCPC
This Award is presented by the Alliance for the Mentally Ill (AMIQuebec). It recognizes psychiatrists noteworthy for developing, directing, and/or providing exemplary services designed to help people living with mental illnesses in criminal justice systems, including the prevention of unnecessary incarceration.

Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) : Ashok Malla MD, FRCPC
Ashok Malla is awarded a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Early phases of non-affective psychosis.

CIHR New Investigator Award : Ridha Joober MD, PhD
He is awarded the 2002 Canadian Institutes of Health Research/Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction New Investigator Award.
NARSAD Young Investigator Award : Martin Lepage PhD
The National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) created the Young Investigator Award to help the most promising scientists who are now entering research to generate pilot data necessary for larger grants.
NARSAD Distinguished Investigator Award : Michael Meaney O.C., PhD, C.Q., FRSC
He is awarded this prestigious award in recognition of his contributions to stress research.

2001

CCNP Young Investigator Award : Ridha Joober MD, PhD
The Young Investigator Award is designed to recognize outstanding contributions in the field of research in neuropsychopharmacology by a young basic scientist or clinical investigator in Canada.
NARSAD Young Investigator Award : Ridha Joober MD, PhD
This award helps the most promising scientists who are now entering research to generate pilot data necessary for larger grants.
The James McGill Chair is awarded by McGill to advance and support the scholarship and research of exceptional academic staff in priority areas of intellectual interest.

2000

Patricia R. Barchas Award : Michael Meaney O.C., PhD, C.Q., FRSC
He is presented the Patricia R. Barchas Award in Sociophysiology in recognition of the importance and sophistication of his research, from the American Psychosomatic Society. The Patricia R. Barchas Award in Sociophysiology, established in 1999, is to memorialize Patricia Barchas by furthering the field of sociophysiology, the study of the reciprocal relationships that could lead to long-term change both in social behavior and in physiology.
